The water treatment plant is located just north of Donner Ski Ranch on Donner Summit, at approximately 7,200 feet elevation with no development above the watershed area.

Wastewater treatment plant and district office are located on Sherritt Lane, immediately north of Interstate 80 off Donner Summit Road in Soda Springs. The waste water treatment plant is at approximately 6,800 feet with average winter temperatures of 34 degrees Fahrenheit.
