Wastewater

Donner Summit Public Utility District implements the most stringent methods for treating wastewater. A state-of-the-art Ultraviolet system disinfects wastewater to the highest level, allowing the District to be the first wastewater treatment plant in California to recycle water for snowmaking.

Donner Summit Public Utility District’s water treatment plant is located in the mountains on Donner Summit. Upgraded in 2018, the plant has the capacity to treat and deliver up to 1 millions of gallons (mgd) of water daily. The District also provides water to the Big Bend community.
